About the directors

Leilani Kalb-Palmer

Artistic Director & Educator

Leilani Kalb has been a Theatre Director and Educator at Elk Grove High School for three years, directing six productions and teaching drama to students in grades 9–12. Her work on Fly By Night and Legally Blonde The Musical has been recognized for fostering collaboration and strengthening the VAPA programs at EGHS.

Leilani earned her Bachelor’s degree in Asian American Studies and her Master’s through UCI’s Master of Arts in Teaching program. Her teaching and directing are guided by a focus on equity and inclusivity, and she strives to create a theatre community where students are encouraged to lead with empathy and love.

Eduardo Velasco

Technical Director

Eduardo “Eddy” Velasco is a creative designer with a strong passion for both performance and technical production. Since 2019, he has been actively involved with the Elk Grove High School theatre program and currently serves as the Technical Director for the Elk Grove Little Theatre Company.

On stage, Eddy portrayed Henry Green in Sympathy Jones (2022), directed by Jennifer Moreno. In 2023, he expanded his creative portfolio by co-directing Fly By Night alongside Leilani Kalb. Beyond theatre, he enjoys photography and traveling.

Eddy is currently pursuing his bachelor’s degree in theatre, where he continues to develop his craft and deepen his understanding of the performing arts.
