About the directors

Leilani Kalb-Palmer

Artistic Director & Educator

Leilani Kalb has been a Theatre Director and Educator at Elk Grove High School for three years, directing six productions and teaching drama to students in grades 9–12. Her work on Fly By Night and Legally Blonde The Musical has been recognized for fostering collaboration and strengthening the VAPA programs at EGHS.

Leilani earned her Bachelor’s degree in Asian American Studies and her Master’s through UCI’s Master of Arts in Teaching program. Her teaching and directing are guided by a focus on equity and inclusivity, and she strives to create a theatre community where students are encouraged to lead with empathy and love.

Eduardo Velasco

Technical Director

Eduardo “Eddy” Velasco is a creative designer with a passion for both performance and technical production. Since 2019, he has contributed to the Elk Grove High School theatre program and currently serves as Technical Director for the Elk Grove Little Theatre Company, bringing over a decade of experience in audio-visual work to every production.

On stage, Eddy portrayed Henry Green in Sympathy Jones (2022), and in 2023, he co-directed Fly By Night with Leilani Kalb. Outside of theatre, he explores photography as a way to connect visual storytelling with live performance.

Eddy is currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Theatre, continuing to develop his skills and deepen his understanding of the craft.
