A strike day refers to the day when the cast and crew disassemble the set, remove props, take down lighting and sound equipment, and restore the stage and theater space to its original state after the final performance of a show. This process is commonly referred to as "striking the set" or simply "strike.
This is not the strike we are talking about.
We have two days scheduled, students and volunteers are encouraged to attend both!
Thursday, January 2nd from 9:30am to 2:30pm
Friday, January 3rd from 9:30am to 2:30pm*
*The 3rd may be cancelled if all tasks are completed on the 2nd
Tasks will include, but are not limited to:
Cleaning dressing rooms/backstage areas
Organizing clothing
Disassembling old set pieces
Throwing out set pieces
Throwing out/organizing props
These items should NOT be thrown away:
❌ Paints
❌ Cleaning Chemicals
❌ Batteries
❌ Electronics
❌ Sharps (nails, screws, etc)
Safety Reminders
✅ Wear closed toed shoes (steel toed if possible)
✅ Wear PPE if deconstructing sets or working with tools (gloves, safety glasses, N95)
✅ Keep all electrical panels clear of props, set pieces, and clothing (they are marked)
✅ Put all sharps/hazardous objects in their designated containers (nails and screws)
❌ Horseplay will not be tolerated
General Reminders
✅ Get director approval before tossing props or costumes
Recommended to bring:
Gloves (Nitrile for cleaning, work gloves if working with sets/tools)
Old clothes (something you don’t mind getting dirty)
Water bottle
Snack/lunch
Required to have:
Closed toed shoes
